Our Business Studies course
goes far beyond just
teaching the basics of
how to run a business by
providing students with
invaluable insight into
business environments. In
Grade 10, our emerging
entrepreneurs are given the
opportunity to put their
knowledge into practice.
They design a realistic
business plan, which allows
them to tender for one of
the active retail shops run
on campus. This initiative
is known as Dikgwebas@OWLAG.
In addition, the Grade 10s
are actively involved in
generating a business
newsletter. Similarly, the
Grade 11s participate in a
three-day work experience
programme within various
companies during school
holidays. During Grades 11
and 12, students are
prepared for the final
external examination as well
as the academic demands of
higher education.
As in all three FET subjects, our
philosophy is to teach and assess as
if we were an IEB school, while
preparing students for the Gauteng
Department of Education
matriculation examination. We
believe that this approach is the
best preparation for success at
school and university, as well as
for students’ future careers.
